The EU Mission to Tonga visited the Popua and Patangata Community Nursery, highlighting strong collaboration with Live and Learn Tonga. The visit showcased key achievements, including sanitation repairs, septic installations, and three new community greenhouses supporting climate resilience and food security. Appreciation is extended to the EU for their ongoing partnership and support.

EU Mission to Tonga with a site visit to the Popua and Patangata Community Nursery has met with great success despite the many events in the country. Leading the site visit was the Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to the Pacific Mr. Nereo Penalver Garcia followed by a special envoy from Berlin, Ambassador Dr. Thomas Fitschen, Head of Mission to Tonga from German Embassy in Wellington Ms Winnie Switakowski and colleagues from the French Embassy in Suva.
The site visit has highlighted the strong partnership between Live and Learn Tonga and the European Union countries through projects they have funded in our targeted communities including our climate and Wash resilience community project.
The project has completed 37 Sanitation facility repairs and maintenance with close to 40 septic systems installed, mostly in the coastal communities of Patangata, Popua and Sopu/Kolomotua area.
Three community greenhouses have also been completed in our targeted communities, aiming at promoting food security and ecological restoration activities amongst other community initiatives to combat the impact of climate changes, creating income generation opportunities and building resilience at the grassroots level.
Special thanks to our EU donor partner for visiting our beneficiaries in Popua and Patangata and looking forward for more collaboration in the coming future.
