Another successful milestone has been achieved in the community of Mataika through our Build Back Safer programme, implemented in partnership with Habitat for Humanity New Zealand and funded by the Government of New Zealand through Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. This milestone reflects ongoing efforts to improve housing conditions and support vulnerable families across targeted communities in Tonga.

The programme focuses on upgrading and strengthening homes to ensure they are safer, more durable, and better able to withstand environmental and climate-related challenges. By working directly with communities, the initiative promotes practical, grassroots-level solutions that enhance shelter resilience and improve overall living conditions for families in need.

Beyond physical improvements, the programme also builds awareness and encourages community participation in safer building practices. It empowers families with knowledge and support to maintain and protect their homes, contributing to long-term resilience and wellbeing.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Habitat for Humanity New Zealand and MFAT for their continued support and partnership. Their commitment plays a vital role in driving this life-changing work forward and strengthening communities across Tonga.
